Sugar Factory Chef Manager

This is a Full-time position in Dover, DE posted September 8, 2021.

MAJOR FOCUS: Responsible for managing the activities and functions of the Sugar Factory, including monitoring of the budget, staffing, and operations.

Produce high quality food with excellent presentation standards.

Supervise and execute all food purchasing and preparation for all food service outlets and events ensuring standards are maintained as set forth by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Establishes and maintains systems and procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving food and related products, as well as menu planning, development and pricing.

Supervises and coordinates all related culinary activities.* Consistently delivers high quality authentic creatively prepared and presented.* Directs and coordinates all activities in the kitchen.

Maintains a high level of cleanliness and ensures that all kitchen employees adhere to safe and sanitary work practices.* Collaborates with appropriate individuals on promotional opportunities and special events to give increased exposure to the restaurant in the local community.* Coordinates nightly with the Sugar Factory General Manager to visit VIP tables to promote guest recognition and obtain direct guest feedback.* Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.* Reviews achievements and discusses required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.* Recommends and implements methods to improve productivity, increase effectiveness and reduce expenses.* Interviews, selects, hire, and retain superior employees.* Coaches and counsels subordinate employees.* Oversees and ensures the timely completion of employee evaluations.* Conducts training with subordinates, both formally and informally.* Issues corrective counseling, and terminates employees as appropriate.* Rewards and recognizes superior performers.* Oversees and ensures that employees work safely and follow all safety rules.* Exercises considerable judgement in determining priorities, managing projects and assignments, delegating work, and overall accomplishment of goals and tasks.* Manages departmental budget, maximizing revenue and controlling expenses as appropriate* Assists in developing and implementing strategic goals, objectives and business plans for the Company* Establishes and implements customer service standards* Manages payroll and labor costs.* Maintains relevant records and oversees the maintenance of records as appropriate for the department.* Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry and competition.* Ensures effective communication within the department and company.* Holds subordinates accountable for established performance expectations.* Motivates and develops staff; provides advice and guidance as appropriate.* Must comply with and enforce compliance with the company’s recycling program standards.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: * Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION: * 3 – 5 years of culinary management experience in a high volume, mid-priced restaurant with annual sales in excess of $1.5 million.* High school diploma, GED* Equivalent experience required, college preferred.* Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software.* Must possess superior customer service and leadership skills.* Must possess superior written and oral communication skills.* Must be able to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.* Must present an overall professional appearance.* Must be able to work weekends, holidays and nights as scheduled.* Must be able to successfully pass a background check.* Must be team oriented, a good trainer, cooperative and reliable.* Must have the ability to logically and independently plan, organize and complete work and show initiative.* Must be able to speak, read and write English.
