HR Generalist

Wurth Industry of North America

This is a Full-time position in Greenwood, DE posted May 18, 2021.

The Human Resources Generalist role is an integral part of enabling and growing Wurth Industry North America, aligning people and policies with company goals to support day to day employee and business needs, and contribute both hands on and strategically. This role will partner with leadership in their assigned practice areas and across the company to create exceptional employee experiences while supporting the accomplishment of the company’s strategic goals. The successful HR Generalist will possess strong business acumen, a high level of emotional intelligence, and a passion for the HR discipline. 


  • Manages and resolves complex employee relation issues including mediating disputes, conducting terminations/separations, recommending and administering disciplinary action/plans, and addressing issues such as work complaints and allegations.
  • Collaborates across the HR function to identify and analyze trends/metrics to help develop and deliver value-add solutions, programs and policies to management and employees that supports the business and departmental objectives.
  • Develops and implements process and policy improvements across the organization.
  • Provides professional advice, support, and mediation to managers and employees regarding programs, procedures, personnel policies and their interpretations, the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, and other various inquiries related to Human Resource functions.
  • Manages and maintains employee records in HRIS System, paper personnel/medical files, I-9 files and Driver files.
  • Assists in employee termination process including preparation of termination information, updating HRIS and relevant spread sheets, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Administers the performance review program and monitors to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, including filing claims, record keeping, managing restrictions, and partnering with insurance company or state agencies.
  • Participates on Safety Committee as needed. 
  • Maintains temporary workforce needs for company. Schedules and participates in interviews, verification of background and drug testing; administer temporary employee time cards, maintains temporary spreadsheets and processes invoices for temporary employees.
  • Completes salary analysis and compensation surveys.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of and assists in the compliance of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO. Partners with legal department as required.
  • Manages the company wide Drug Testing program for employees. 
  • Assist in the analysis, development and implementation of various modules and upgrades of HRIS (UltiPro). Research, help implement and enhance HRIS functions of various modules.
  • Compiles various reports and charts including Headcount, PTO Accruals, Compensation, and others upon request.
  • Continuously improves productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the operational organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources; or commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in employee relations.
  • PHR or SPHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation.
  • High degree of professionalism, teamwork, integrity, leadership, and confidentiality.
  • High level of interpersonal skills where the individual can diffuse high-tension situations.
  • Strong influencing and facilitating skills, which surface differing viewpoints and result in the best course of actions.
  • Good reasoning and analytical abilities. Sound judgment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service, attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
