Artificial Intelligence and a digital platform are essential to our ability to fulfill Oportun’s financially inclusive mission.

The Technology team @ Oportun is dedicated to this mission which we enable by creating, delivering, and maintaining elegant, intuitive, and performant systems to support the needs of our customers and business partners.



Design@Oportun is dedicated to the cultivation, delivery, and thoughtful reflection on the systems, mechanisms, languages, and assets that our customers (internal and external) interact with on a daily basis.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience 4+ years of experience with human-centered design 4+ years of experience with design thinking tools and methods 4+ years of experience in Design Strategy or User Experience (UX) design
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree (Business, Design, Human Computer Interaction) 4+ years of experience with a financial services company Background in human factors, psychology, and behavioral discipline Spanish speaking/bi-lingual skills




Lead end-to-end design strategy projects that include planning, discovery, synthesis, ideation, design, and testing of new product and services.

Demonstrated experience with a wide variety of design research methods (including qualitative, and quantitative).

Tailors those research methods and applies the most effective combination for product/service and design recommendations.

Develop persuasive customer centric analyses focused on current and future target user needs Develop and maintain design artifacts in support of communicating user research (i.e., Persona’s, Journey Maps, and Service Blueprints) Leverage analytics, market research and qualitative research to illuminate holistic customer needs Stay on top of and incorporate latest competitive and technological trends into design recommendations Apply knowledge of design best practices, design systems, and optimized process flows in support of concept development Evaluate and edit digital product content and copy to develop intuitive experiences.

This includes interaction flows, terminologies, taxonomies and other content across products and channels.

Prefer ambiguous problem spaces in pursuit of clarity and concrete outcomes Enjoy collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop rich understanding of human needs Use design to communicate complex concepts simply and always strive to make things tangible, whether they’re conversations, frameworks, or ideas Are proficient working with design tools like Figma, Mural and the
