Senior Accountant

Overview: Affordable Care is seeking a Senior Accountant reporting to the Manager of General Accounting.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for various accounting operations of the company, including closing the books, financial reporting, financial analysis, and account reconciliations.

Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule.

Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities: Perform month-end accounting close activities including financial analysis, journal entries, and accruals.Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule.

Prepare and record entries by compiling and analyzing account information.Reconcile balance sheet accounts including supporting statements or other documents.Investigates variances between actual results, prior periods, and forecasts.Prepares financial reports and analysis for management, including an explanation of variances.

Prepares data and analyses for the external auditors.Reconciles balance sheet accounts and identifies required adjustments.Leverages system knowledge to analyze data.

Maintains continuous improvement and team mindset.Maintains internal controls and compliance with company policies and with GAAP Assumes additional responsibilities and assist with special projects as needed or directed.Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.Balances account by authenticating, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and addressing discrepancies.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in AccountingMinimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or auditMinimum 2-3 years general ledger accounting experience performing monthly close duties and objectives.

Superior analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to meet a constant stream of hard deadlines.Work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employeesStrong attention to detailHighly detail-oriented and organized.Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

High proficiency with MS Excel is required.Experience with accounting software and programs, Great Plains experience desirable.
