Finance Director/Treasurer

SUMMARY: 

The QTI Group has partnered with the Village of DeForest, WI to recruit and hire a Finance Director/Treasurer. 

The purpose of the position is to plan, direct, and administer the day to day and year-end financial functions of the Village and ensure effective and efficient operations of the finance director/treasurers office under the general direction of the village administrator, subject to state statutes, village ordinances, budget and financial policies and orders and directives of the Village Board. 

DeForest is strategically located in South-Central Wisconsin, just minutes from Madison.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance; five to seven (5-7) years

    accounting experience, including a minimum of three (3) years at the supervisory level, with

    an emphasis on governmental accounting and experience working with automated financial

    systems; or any combination of education and experience which provides the necessary

    knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Licensor as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) desired.

    Comprehensive knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations related to the finance

    director/treasurer’s activities.

    Knowledge of municipal budgeting and financial management principles and practices,

    including fund accounting consistent with policies and rules set by state agencies and

    generally accepted accounting practices.

    Knowledge of supervisory techniques and the principles of modern office management, as

    well as experience using a variety of office equipment and computer-based applications for

    word processing, database management, financial management, and accounting.

    Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with village residents, village

    board members, employees, and other government officials.

    Ability to work outside of normal office hours when necessary.
